Through their S/Lab division, Salomon creates their most advanced and specialised products for the world's top athletes. The sport of "Hike & Fly" is a unique, extreme and demanding race which sees athletes traversing terrain by both ground and air. Perhaps best captured in the Red Bull X-Alps competition, this unique sport requires unique kit.

The Annecy, France based company worked with some of the sport's top athletes, including their neighbour Maxime Pinot to create the S/Lab Skyway – a purpose-built shoe that aims to provide these extreme athletes with the very best performance for long hikes as well as taking flight.

The sole is made from Energy Foam for a cushioned ride over the jagged, rocky terrain that Hike & Fly athletes traverse to get to their launch point. The Active Chassis creates a strong base which helps torsional rigidity, whilst a lugged Contagrip rubber outsole provides plenty of grip over undulating surfaces.

To assist with your descent (the paragliding part) the shoes feature a stretch bootie over most of the upper, which helps to keep any potential for snags to a minimum. Salomon's signature Quicklace® system allows for on-the-fly adjustment, with the whole lot tucking away safely into the lace garage when not in use.
